Hi everyone,
I am currently unemployed due to an injury, but it is getting much better now so I am looking for work again. I have previously only worked in corporate roles, but I want to transition to more social development / government roles as I realised I'm not motivated by money as such, but more along the lines of helping others. I don't really have any work skills on working these roles. What would you suggest to write in the cover letters? I wanted to retrain as a therapist, but currently we are no in the financial position for me to do this at this stage. My degree is a BsC, majoring in Human Geography but I graduated in 2015, so not too sure how I can even play it a as a relevance anymore for these roles. I was never successful in getting government jobs previously so just settled with what I could find.
Previously I've worked in shipping, ISP call centre and admin roles that focused on a lot of technical components.
I am also unable to volunteer as we are currently in a lockdown / restriction where I live. I did not have time to do volunteering work previously while I worked due to burn out. I'm working with a therapist to address these issues so I am hopeful I won't be burnt out at my next role(s).
