How to delay accepting job offer

I got an offer yesterday which was less than I had asked. I countered and they are considering it but even my counter is less than I’d like as they said they wouldn’t go within my actual requested range.

I had been waiting to interview at another place but it was put on hold due to a death in the family of the hiring manager. I just heard back that they want to interview me. I have informed the recruiter for this place that I did receive an offer which I have not yet accepted + asking if we can set up an interview asap. This place’s salary range is higher and within the range I was looking for. Waiting to hear back.

What do I tell the place that already offered me a job once they call me back re my counter?
