I went to apply to a restaurant and they said they would hire me tomorrow and I said I will think about it(which I actually meant no) did I do the right thing?

So when I entered there to apply at the restaurant,the workers there where criticizing me and where not even hiding it(it was the way I dressed) but right off the bat, I knew I felt extremely uncomfortable.i had a bad feeling if I worked there the employees where going to be verbally abuseing me and mistreated me. I also don't trust the fact that the manager gave the job right way, from what I heard they pay pretty bad like ($250 every 2weeks) I already grudated from high school and I want to know if there any better jobs with a high school diploma
