I received an email from a higher up saying that he would like to shadow me for an hour on Thursday. The email specified that I “shouldn’t worry and it’s mainly to take a look at our processes and see what we can do better, or how we can work smarter, not harder”. I’ve had people job shadow me, but never something like this before. I’ve been with the company for a year.
I am worried. I’m a part of newly created department and it’s not doing great. We’re very slow. We recently laid off 5 people from my team and moved 5 others to different departments. I believe I was kept on due to my experience and good track record in loan quality + good feedback from clients I work with.
I’m just wondering if this is…normal? Or is there anything I should say or do during the shadow that will potentially help me not get me laid off? I’d speak to my leader but he’s out of the office until Friday.
