Offered a new job while on contract

Help!!!!

I am a temporary employee on contract with a company, assisting in completing a large assignment that is not yet complete.

Today I was offered a permanent position elsewhere that I want to take.

How do I tell my current employer that I am ending the contract early and will not be completing the assignment?
