So I just started with a company two days ago. I was a little iffy on it because of how the hiring and interview process went. I was past off twice for my interview, and it was pushed back. I told them I could start in a week and they said they'd need pictures of my documents (license, SSN, etc) and my sizes for a uniform.
Over the next week, my texts were either forgotten about or ignored. I had the number of the interviewer and of their receptionist. I asked what time I would be starting, what I was going to be doing, and also sent my documents. I even called both of them and never got an answer. At this point I didn't even know if I actually had the job or not. So all I could do was wait the next few days until Monday. Come Sunday night, I still had no idea what I was doing or what time I needed to be there so I woke up early on Monday at around 6am so I could call them.
I called the interviewer and texted, no answer. I called and texted the receptionist and no answer. Around 7:45-7:50am, I finally get a text from the receptionist telling me I need to be there at 8am, In 10 minutes, to a job I live 45 minutes away from. I told them I was understandably going to be late because I wasn't told until a few minutes prior. Already that was a very bad first impression. So I get there, late obviously, and I do some starting paperwork with the owner. I told him about the situation and he said "yea that happens" and continues. Doesn't even acknowledge the issue much. This is a contracted delivery driving job so once the paperwork was done, I was put with a driver and sent off for the day.
At the end of the day, I asked the driver I was with if I was with him tomorrow. He said no as he would be off. He said they would let me know in the morning. So the next day, which was today, I get there at 8 and there is absolutely no one to ask. I asked two people for directions to someone to talk to and they had no one to refer me to. I texted the same two people and no response. I finally texted the owner, as I had gotten his number the day before, and he basically told me to find someone to tell me what to do. I asked him where I could find someone and I was given a very general Area to look. Pretty much half of the building, and this is a massive warehouse with hundreds of people.
Half an hour has gone by and I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. A couple minutes go by and I get a call from someone and they said they were wondering where I was and I told them I hadn't any prior direction. I met up with them and they pretty much found someone to throw me with. That was my second day.
So my question is, how can I leave this job? They hardly even know that I work here and I honestly don't think they'd even notice if I didn't show up tomorrow. I'm not one to leave a job like that but I can't even get ahold of anyone to tell me where to go, let alone trying to sit down and talk to someone to tell them I want to quit. I've been at this job for literally Two days so I don't see a two week notice as something necessary and I don't think I'd ever try to reapply. I feel limited on my ways of leaving. Also, it's not like I'm desperate for a job at the moment either. I have some money saved and I only got the job so I could get extra money before starting a business.
I understand what I'm trying to do and I know the possible consequences of walking away from a job but I need some advice on this. Thanks for any advice!
