hi everyone. i've been working my current job for about four years and have determined 2 weeks notice is appropriate in this case. pardon my ignorance as this was my first job and my dad sort of got me into the job as he works in the company, so I don't think it was a "typical" interview process.
when applying for a new job, is it normal for the interviewer to ask "when can you start" ? if so, would an employer usually be O.K. with you telling them that you can start in 2 weeks time? that is, after your notice period?
on the other hand, is there a chance that the employer would not hire you if you told them you can start in 2 weeks time? as in, would they just hire someone else that could start the next day for example? if this is the case, maybe I would be better off waiting until no longer employed to apply for another job? (it's fine for me to have some down time between jobs in my current financial situation)
