Just realized a job I'm interviewing for tomorrow has 'full drivers license' as a position requirement. I was really excited, and now I'm heartbroken.

I've scheduled an interview tomorrow for a position as a retail assistant at a charity shop; they sent me the 'essential criteria' they will be addressing on the day, and reading through it I was horrified to find that the position apparently 'requires' a full drivers license.

I'm 22 and I'm still a learner driver. In Australia, you need 100 hours of driving in your logbook in order to take the first provisional test. After that there's a few more years until I can graduate to a 'full' license, but otherwise, once I've passed learners I can drive unsupervised. I haven't been able to afford lessons, and my mum was always 'too busy' to take me when I lived with her. Because of this I've only been able to start working towards the 100 hours this year, when my partner recently got her full license.

My lack of license has consistently been a hurdle in job hunting, as most positions I've encountered- even if they're easy to get to via public transport, even if they have nothing to do with driving, even if I could feasibly WALK there- have required a 'full drivers license' for whatever reason.

I am shattered- and baffled- as to why the retail assistant position I applied for would need a drivers license, and I am confused as to why it wasn't disclosed in the initial job posting. If it was, I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up... I am more than qualified in every other way.

Does anyone know why these positions require a license, and why I keep running into this issue time and time again? I'm not gonna lie, I feel discriminated against and I'm failing to understand why.
