Background info: Want the job and struggling to find a good one in my niche. I interviewed at a smallish media company last Tuesday. After a week (and without any other offers, but with other interviews), I wrote the below.
Hi [manager]
As expressed last week, I'd be thrilled to join [company]. The company sounds amazing and I'd love to be a part of your ongoing efforts towards growth, from x to x.
That said, I currently have an offer from another company and a Friday deadline in which to accept it.
Are you able to update me on the status of my application?
Reply:
While your application is in the running, we are still in the initial stages of interviewing candidates, with another round of final interviews still to be had. As such, I'm unfortunately unable to extend you an offer at this time.
I appreciate your interest in a full-time position with us but understand if you are unable to wait for a final decision on our end.
How Do I Reply?
Tell them to still contact me as I may be available? Also, salary has not at ALL been mentioned. Should I ask?
The awkward part is that I'm now freelancing with the company, so have daily contact with one of the people who interviewed me. It's all quiet... Advice?
I feel embarrassed by what I sent and don't want to come out sounding like an idiot. What's a strong response.
