How do I fix conflicting availability with 2 jobs?

I wanted to call before orientation to request a change. My mother thinks I should wait until they give me my schedule, and then tell them. She claims she’s had enough jobs to know. And my father thinks I should quit altogether, and reapply if my other job doesn’t work out.

I have no idea what to do. I don’t want to leave in bad graces, but if I don’t change my availability, I might be forced to.

They’re my first jobs, if that matters. Maybe they’ll be more lenient.
