Hi r/jobs! Looking for some advice.
In College I took an internship a little bit out of my field of study. It’s a pretty analytical field that requires hard skills that aren’t associated with my degree, but I was hired regardless.
I ended up falling in love with the internship. Great manager/team, loved the work I was doing, and performed well. My company ended up hiring me part till I graduated, and offering a full time position upon graduation.
I assumed in my full-time position I’d be doing something similar, or at least equally interesting, but that’s not the case. I should have asked more questions. I’ve been full-time for 6 months & find my job incredibly boring. It doesn’t require any of the skills I picked up.
I’m kind of itching to leave. I’m worried I’m losing the skills I gained, and this new position offers little room for growth/mobility, or even skills to put on my resume.
My hesitancy is that, this job is a great place to work. Fantastic benefits, positive work environment, and a great manager/team. Maybe I’m overthinking the skill level/boredom?
So my question, do you think my reason are valid to leave so soon? In total, I’ve worked here 13 months, but full time only 6.
Thanks for your help!
