Should I finish this one last task of an unpaid position, or just bail?

Im a research assistant for a professor and I already told him this would be my last two weeks with him. For context: This is an unpaid position that I took solely because I needed a recommendation letter for grad school from a professor in a business school (i was in a different field and wanted to go to business grad school) and to avoid a blank on me resume as I was struggling to find a job for a while.

However I already have two profs in business who could give me a recommendation letter (I took business classes with them as electives) and Im realizing I dont need a third one (I also have in case coworkers I could ask from previous internships so no need for another business prof). I also got a great job recently that looks great on resume and actually pays.

He gave me one final task to do in my last two weeks, I have not even started it and I am beyond the two weeks today. It is summer and I cannot for the life of my find the motivation to work on this task (which would take about 10-12 hours to complete). I know it sounds like just one last task but Im seriously done with his research and just want to bail. Theres nothing in it for me anymore and it is some quite deadful work I keep postponing and it feels frustrating. Should I tell him something came up and I couldnt work on it and thank him still for giving me this opportunity? Or should I just do it to be on “good terms” with him?
