[OR] I’m looking into applying for a promotion which means a background check will be re-ran. I was hired with a clean record but unfortunately obtained a DUI & a drug possession charge months in after getting hired. I’m so embarrassed by this and will never happen again. I told my manager asap and they said to not worry and I’ve still been here since (almost 2 years since the incident)
That manager no longer works here and now Im just worried about HR. I don’t plan on hiding this information if they ask. Im just worried they wouldn’t want me working here anymore.
The job posting for the promotion I want says “ this position is subject to a fingerprint background check for any convictions related to the duties of the position. Only job related convictions will be considered and will not auto disqualify the candidate.
Both of my charges were dismissed after completing diversion and paying fees. The position I’m wanting is an office specialist job (paperwork, data entry)
Anyone have experience with this? Please help me put my mind at ease. Thank you.
