New office job. Was told "Don't feel like you have to keep that a secret" after I told the VP I have a kid? Confused.

I'm new to corporate world. I am so confused why I was told this. Are you not suppose to discuss children in an office setting or something? I also think he thought I was a lot younger than I am (I look young for my age) so maybe that's why. I don't know where else to post this I'm just baffled and like I said I'm new to having a corporate job so I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing?
