Hello,
Looking for some career advice as I'm faced with a difficult decision - change jobs, or stay at my current position.
A little background - graduated about 5 years ago and started in Public Accounting (big 4) doing IT audits. I got somewhat burned out and switch jobs to a manufacturing job after making senior. About a year in I realized I didn't want to stay in the manufacturing industry and pivoted to financial services. I've been with this financial services company for about a year and enjoy what I do, but the path to promotion is taking longer than I would like. I interviewed recently and found a remote role (seeing this as a benefit) that offers international travel (another benefit in my eyes) with a ~30% pay raise and with the vacation/holiday benefits being a bit better too. The career change would be in the "education" industry and a quicker path to IT Audit Manager. Some concerns include this being another job change (Employer #4; I could be seen (perhaps I already am?) as a future flight risk if it doesn't work out, and I'm not even 30). I'm also comfortable right now given my current salary/expenses. However, given the massive pay increase I'm having a really hard time to deciding what would be the best move (along with weighing the additional benefits). Staying with my current employer for a longer period of time would obviously look better on the resume and be less of hassle to explain in interviews, but staying means leaving ~100K on the table over the next 3 years or so (and potentially more). However being in the Financial Services industry may command more money down the road if I do decide to leave, say ~5-7 years from now (i.e., bird in the hand, two in the bush).
Thank you for your advice/feedback, it's much appreciated.
