Hello everyone,
I would like to ask for your opinions on if you think this is a scam or not. I have provided the emails I exchanged with the employer so you can get a better understanding.
Some more info: I applied for this job on Indeed. The employer messaged me on Indeed to email his personal email to ask more info about the job. His email doesn't look suspicious, looks like a personal email. His emails appear to be well-written with no typos/errors.
Some red flags I have noticed:
- Got hired basically immediately within 2 days of exchanging emails.
- No website whatsoever. I did google search, yelp search, nothing.
- It seems this assistant job requires me to send payments to vendors? I have heard this is a possible scam with a check being sent to me within 48 hours as the employer said in the email.
- Pay seems extremely good for only 10-15 hours (part time).
- Job listing was deleted on Indeed after he messaged me and I couldn't find more information on the company.
I am a fresh out of college student still looking for a first job and this was the one that immediately hired me without interviewing me and immediately trusted me with no background check even though the employer said there was some private info that shouldn't be leaked to others.
Your thoughts/opinions will be highly appreciated. If there are people interested, I can keep you guys posted once I receive more info from this employer and once I receive the check that he said will come. But I mostly likely won't deposit it because of check scams I have googled.
