I had my third and final interview today with 4 team members including the CEO. I really want the job and feel that it’s a great fit culture and position-wise.
Midway through the interview, the CEO asked me if I was a team player. I said yes, because I am, in fact I’ve had that stated on all of my previous performance reviews. He then asks “well if you weren’t a team player would you even tell me?” and I responded by saying, “well...probably not, but I promise I am!” The whole group chuckled and we moved on but I hope it wasn’t misconstrued that I would say anything to get the job. I wish I said afterwards, “to be honest, if I wasn’t a team player I wouldn’t have continued to pursue this position because I know how important it is to the company.” Or something to that regards.
Do you think it’s a light hearted answer or should I clarify further in my follow up email? Thanks for any input! And as you can probably tell, I overthink like crazy so interviews are borderline torture.
