Can anyone tell me what it's really like working as a Direct Support Professional with people with developmental disabilities and behavioral issues? Interested in changing careers but not sure what I'm getting into.

I'm leaving a 15 year long career in graphic design because I am completely burned out. I've always kicked around the idea of working with people with disabilities, and there are plenty of these jobs in my area. It will be a significant pay cut for me, I realize that. What i really want to know if these jobs have a high turn over because of high stress... and what it's really like. I have a feeling that this work may not be what I think it is. Specifically working at a group home assisting with teaching basic life skills and independence.
