Twitch is a cool company to work at if you are a man and bonus if you’re a gamer. It isn’t positive as a woman. Men completely comprise most teams and power positions and women are only placed in positions to show they are making an effort to show they care about gender issues or getting with the times.
The reality is they treat women as place holders. Unless you are mousey and quiet or a software developer they don’t care about women or act like they care about their opinions. They treat women like things to be seen and not heard in real business discussions.
Women complain about serious issues and it’s swept under the rug like dirty secrets with barely anything done to address it.
I encourage any women thinking of joining this company to seriously reconsider. You can be treated much better at other companies. Not being overtalked, having your offers to help squashed like pumpkins, or worse being left out to dry because no one told you what you don’t know.
They ignore me. Tell me to ask questions yet ask me to do things with no context. No one deserves this.
Some men at Twitch are like men who haven’t interacted with smart women. Some women are like abuse victims and play their roles not upsetting the balance. They agree and go along or try to be positive but they are few and far between to make it worthwhile or are not on your team.
If you are a strong, smart woman, you may feel like a candle being extinguished here. Like your talents are being wasted because they want you backed into a corner. Do as we say/want you to. Speak up but not too loudly or not really.
Go somewhere you will have more impact and ability to speak. It’s not here. Regardless of what their HR say, Twitch does not value women (probably WORSE for MINORITIES). Twitch is bad for female employees. Go elsewhere.
