Ive recently started a job in a company just a few months ago. While I've only just started with the systems they use, its mainly a customer service-facing job, and I've been very self-sufficient in learning and finding out answers to questions myself.
They recently hired an assistant manager who has next to no experience with our systems or the company. Ive actually done a lot of training for them, though they are training in departments I haven't worked in as well. Given they were hired despite their inexperience, I thought it'd be a good idea to apply for the newly opened management position below them.
Recently the assistant-assistant manager left (the person under the new hire), and theyre hiring for a new one. Given I am pretty proficient with the systems now, have previous management experience (and open availability), and have been told I'm excelling in my role, I was thinking about applying.
The other departments will be fairly easy to learn, but I feel nervous it will come off poorly for applying for management so early in my role and without having yet been cross-trained in the other departments or having my 90 day review. The pay is not much better than my current role, despite the fact the hours/responsibilities are more intensive, but I plan to be with the company for awhile and I thought it'd help my career with them. What do you think?
