How do you get over a rejection for a job that you're qualified for, would be excel in and for which the interview went very well?
I applied for a job within my industry. I'm fully qualified for the job and I have about 10 years of experience. The company is kind of a start up company and I wanted to join for that very reason. I'd have more room to grow professionally.
I interviewed with HR first for job 1. It went very well. We even went over our scheduled time. So well, that she also suggested that I'd also be perfect for another role (job 2).
A few days after, I interviewed with the head of the department (job 2). I also think it went very well, I'm fully qualified for the job. He said he'd reccomend me to move to another round and HR would schedule me to interview with his boss next week. Let's call her Nina.
The following week came and went. no news. no updates. I reached out to HR and was told as soon as she got an update, she'd let me know.
another week went by, I got an automated email and asked me to schedule an interview with John, not Nina.
I had the interview and as it turned out it was for Job 1. While I'm qualified for the job, the job is less technical and more customer service. John and I could sense I was not right for the job.
2 days later, I received an automated email from HR saying that I was no longer considered.
For Job 1, as I said I was not the right fit and I understand why they turned me down.
For Job 2, why didn't I get the next interview? Esp after I was told I'd be moving to next round and HR would schedule me for the next person?
I've been rejected for jobs before but I quickly got over it. Even for jobs I wanted more than this one.
but this one hit me the hardest esp after great interview for Job 2. I can't help but taking this personal. Is it me?
