Need a job, do I go through temp agencies?

Hi all.

I finished my first year of online college and have no prior job experience. I was told by some people in my family that temp agencies are a good way to get employment, even just for the summer vacation.

I was on YouTube and thought I would look up some advice before calling an agency, and I keep getting results for negative experiences with temp agencies. Now I'm worried; some of these stories are really negative. I don't want to waste my time and I still do not know if temporary employment is the way to go.

Any advice on what to do? Are temp agencies worth trying? You can even tell stories of your own if you have any.
