It's annoying when people ask you for a job referral when you don't even know them or speak to them, and they put zero effort into trying themselves

I get messages out of the blue from acquaintances (from school, past jobs, met once, etc.). They ask me if I can help them refer them to my workplace for a job. I don't even know them. What am supposed to say to my boss about them?

There are so many times where I try to tell them to just apply online themselves, or call the store, and they urge me to do the work for them ("can you talk to your boss? can you ask them when I can have an interview?"), in which case I go to my boss and give them their resume and I straight up tell them not to hire them because I don't even know them and that they're trying to get me to do the work for them.

I also had people who tried to pretend to be my friend just so I can hook them up with a job. When they end up finding something better, I find that they removed me off their social media and they never spoke to me again.

This happens too constantly and it's honestly kind of annoying.
