My friend was highly referred for a job. The day after applying, they received a rejection note written out from the Hiring Manager. The rejection note acknowledged that although they were highly referred, there were simply too many "grammar mistakes" within the pre-application form (multiple open-ended questions). They stated that due to the mistakes it looked as if attention to detail was an issue for my friend and they gave the advice to proofread applications you care about in the future. Fair advice.
My friend reviewed the responses they provided on the form with a mentor and did discover just a few too many grammar mistakes that might cause a brow to rise.
The Question: Is it ever appropriate to reapply for a role that you really care about?
This was the friends first application coming out of grad school and a great learning lesson.
