Hey all,
I'm currently not in a job. I left my last one to study and try to change industries.
I interviewed and got an offer for a 6-month, remote work, contract-to-hire consulting engineering job through recruiting by a staffing agency, doing similar work as at my previous job.
(It's with a big and well-rated company, both in terms of various engineering metrics and ratings on Glassdoor and Indeed.)
My questions are--
- The role is at-will employment, which I assume is standard. Would it be acceptable/poor form to work for 3-4 months out of the 6, and then leave for a different opportunity, if I give more than (and at least two weeks) notice, or even ask that before accepting the job? (haven't broached it yet).
I don't plan to, but I want to know in case (for school).
- Would it be unheard of to ask to convert the job to part-time? The staffing agency manager seemed on-board with it in first discussion. I'm not sure how the engineering managers will take it.
Apologies if these are very foolish questions. I'm torn between wanting to work at the company for a while and focusing on my planned career.
