Thoughts on accepting an unpaid internship?

I've applied to dozens of places and keep getting rejected. One company emailed me and said they would hire me as an engineering assistant. However, it's an unpaid internship. The only job that I have on my resume is when I used to be a field inspector for a construction company.

I graduate in the Fall so I thought it would be a good idea to accept. I can work for a couple of months to strengthen my resume while actively looking for jobs.
