Terminated after being yelled at.

Hello, I was terminated from my job for "Misconduct" after being yelled at by a coworker/cook who was increasingly getting more upset with me after I apologized to her. Here's what happened.

I walk into work and the cook asks a group of 6 if someone could make up some salad dressings. No one answered her, so she goes and makes them herself and comes back noticeably frustrated. Me, just getting through the door happen to be right next to her when she came back. She spoke under her breathe along the lines of "someone couldn't of made them?". Me being the socially awkward person I am sarcastically responded with "Sorry, I'm lazy." (For a bit of context, I am the least lazy person there from the moment I clock in, what I said given the context and those around me this could've easily been taken as a joke. Regardless, It shouldn't have been said.)

However, given she was having a bad day she did not take what I said nicely and looked noticeably more frustrated. Now, I like this person, she's a good person, I respect her she respects me and not once have we ever had an argument. I felt bad.. So I waited until we were finished with service and I went to the employee break room to apologize to her. Here's what happened.

I walked in "Hey, A, just wanted apologize for my comment earlier it wasnt my intention for it to rub off the way it did."

A says "Well its your responsibility"

I replied with "Sorry what? Well typically they are already made up and this is the first time I've ever been asked to make up salad dressings. Why am I being singled out besides the comment I made earlier when you asked a group of 6 people?" the conversation went straight from my apology straight to salad dressings..

A gets really upset, and raises her voice at me

I started getting some pretty bad anxiety and asked her "Why are you yelling at me? Why are you so upset? This isn't like you." I was very confused at the time, this came out of no where. I started to leave the room and she gets up from her seat and gets real nasty at me. I decided to stay in the room after she got pissed at me for trying to leave.. She got in my face and told me to "get out, no no you gotta be somewhere remember?" After she got in my face I started to have a panic attack which involved me hyperventilating followed with crying. As I struggle to breathe, I slowly get down to the ground trying to control my breathing. A comes back into the room and continues to yell at me coming off as I'm if just faking it all, one of the coworkers tells A to leave after seeing whats going on with me.

10 minutes pass and I'm alone by myself in the break room and finally have myself together. My boss enters the room and asks for my side of the story. I told her what I just told you guys, albeit less detail. 45 long minutes go by and my boss comes in with the owner and tells me that I am not in any trouble and to come back Monday for my shift, and that I will be paid for my time loss. Monday morning comes around, and I get a call at 8am for some last minute meeting.

I head into work and HR and my boss are "terminating me for misconduct". I felt so betrayed, stabbed in the heart. This place is my 2nd home.. I asked them why am I being fired and they said it was for misconduct for what happened in the break room. I asked them if they seriously knew what happened in there. As soon as I brought up the cooks name they said over and over and over how "We cant talk about A right now" "A has nothing to do with this" I was completely shook. I started crying I couldn't help myself..

What bothers me is that, what did I do to deserve such punishment? Why was I never questioned by HR? Why is my boss the person whom I think wants me fired (and she knows it) gets to question me and take and use my story in any way she deems fit. I should also add that a month ago I had a meeting with HR and my boss over how I felt as if they were trying to get me fired. I expressed concern over the fact that my boss allowed someone with Covid-19 symptoms into our nursing home and that there's screen shot/msg evidence to back that claim up & that over 10 documented employees have gone to HR about our boss but nothing has been done about it. In fact, HR tells our boss about that visit.
