Hey everyone, was hoping to get some advice on my somewhat sticky situation here.
So, I am in the process of looking for a new job, and on my current resume I have a freelance project listed that I did for a company that I was once previously on staff for. The only issue is, is that this company did not pay me for the work I did. I was going to chase them down, but I had never done any work like this before, so I decided to cut my losses of a few hundred dollars.
Now, I am on the final round of interviews for a job I desperately want. I know this employer does a background check, and now I am freaking out about them contacting this company about this position they didn’t pay me for. I am worried it will look bad on my part and am unsure what to do. Should I just tell the hiring manager the extent of the situation? I am worried about making things awkward or stirring the pot. Any and all insight/ advice would be appreciated.
