New to the sub so please let me know if this isn’t the right setting for this post but I’m kind of just at a standstill and would love other points of view.
I’ve been at my current job for 6 years (4 years, then left for a leadership position where the environment was incredibly toxic and threatened my professional license with their legal issues, went back to my current job and have been there 2 years since). I just struggle because for a job in the US, I have got it made in terms of work/life balance. But I don’t like my actual job.
I made a pros and cons list (below). Insights? Anyone been in a similar position? I just need some other perspectives. TIA!
Pros: -good PTO (better by far than any other place I’ve worked or applied) -good, set hours -low stress -good benefits -no micromanaging -like my team (I only see them once a month for 2 hours but we text regularly)
Cons: -commute (remote now but when back in person 45 minutes to an hour each way) -lonely (not part of a team daily) -no space of my own (I lug all the things I need around all day and have to just use open offices/rooms; travel to multiple sites) -low engagement/low motivation from clients -no growth opportunities at all -duties not clearly defined, nobody to learn from or clarify with
I have an 11-month-old and having time for him is super important to me but I can’t help but wonder if there’s a job out there with good structure/PTO/benefits that’s also interesting and engaging. Maybe I’m just ungrateful.
Either way, thanks for reading! Any feedback welcome!
