TL;DR; I recently took a produce/maintenance job, have already been to orientation, but sense I had orientation, my doctors have told me I have serious back problems and lung problems.
Hello everyone, first time posting to this subreddit, but I could use some advice.
I recently took a position in a produce department at a local Price Chopper, and during orientation I was informed I would most likely have to work in the maintenance department as well.
I recently had orientation this past Monday, and I also had two doctors appointments that day as well, after orientation.
Now, I’ve had issues with breathing for a while, but didn’t think they where dire, until I started getting some chest pain. I’ve also always had some back pain and leg pain, so I recently started going to physical therapy for my back and leg, due to the pain worsening. I already informed work of these problems.
My PT doctor recently told me that PT isn’t going to help my issues, and that they are going to have to take a more aggressive approach to treating the issue. I was also told I should be taking it easy, as any heavy lifting or doing anything that causes pain (for me, walking/standing for anything over an hour usually does it) could make things worse and lead to me being bed ridden.
I was also informed by my doctor I could have potential coagulopathy, which could be leading to blood slowly getting into my lungs and causing my breathing problems, and chest pain. They want me to do more tests so we can be sure, but I have been having worsening chest pain and difficulty breathing.
I don’t know if I should stop working until things are figured out, how to talk to my employer about this, or what to do in general. It’s just giving me a lot of anxiety, and just need some advice. Thank you in for reading all of this if you did.
