Just needed a place to vent about this situation that I’m in, but I’ll try to be brief. I’ve worked a retail office supply store while in college part time since July. In late December, my GM said that he would shift me to a higher position soon, which also comes with a modest pay increase. I started training/working for the position on the first of January and had a lot of the basics down and by the end of the month. I felt I was ready to officially take on the role. However, my boss had yet to move me over officially. I waited another 30 days while doing the same job and still nothing, even though my performance was improving. Finally after being a bit fed up, in mid March I asked him when he would move me, and responded by saying he forgot and would do it tomorrow. It’s now been a couple weeks since then and still, he hasn’t moved me, and I’m most likely just going to put in my 2 weeks soon. While the pay increase is only a dollar, I feel like this is more of an issue about respect and not being upfront. Mind you, during the same 3 month time period he’s hired 2 new sales associates, as well as brought in an outside sales manager, trained him, and gave him his position. It’s really a shame because most of my coworkers are great, but this experience has really left a sour taste in my mouth and I feel like it’s time to move on to better things
