Hi everyone! Sorry if this is a repetitive situation but I am 20f with a HS DIPLOMA who wants to quit her toxic job. I’ve been working at this place for 9 months through a temp agency and it’s full time and pays 16/hr. I don’t have a car rn so I commute to work through Uber. I’m planning on going back to school in the fall cause I did do community college for a semester and had to drop out due to parent abandonment and becoming homeless at 18. This job has caused me much stress. I’m the only temp worker here although I’ve trained other ppl who became permanent before me and I don’t get benefits at all working here. Also, my boss is verbally abusive and makes inappropriate comments about me due to my ethnic background and age (youngest one on the team). I’ve had panic attacks almost everyday especially in Sunday’s before going into work and I’ve also had multiple crying breakdowns at work in a month due to the toxicity of this job. Basically, I have 8k saved up rn in my savings account but I’m scared of quitting cause I’ve only had 3 jobs in my life and most were retail so idk how employable I am to new jobs and I’ve been applying and all the offers I’m getting are for other temp jobs or permanent jobs with a pay cut or the commute is too far from my house due to the cost of commuting or it would be a combo of Both. When I did have some luck. The interview times wouldn’t be within my work schedule so I wouldn’t be able to attend them and since I’m temp. I can’t ask for time off. And although I do have the savings. I’ve been saving this money for two years to get a car and I don’t wanna waste it all or run out of it by the fall when I plan to go back to county college and when there is a 30 min car commute there. I live in section 8 housing so if I quit and I don’t have any income I wouldnt have to pay rent and it would only be my essential bills like food, phone bill, groceries and transportation with things like Uber and public transportation. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
