A recruiter freaked out on me a little

I had a call with an external recruiter about a job after responding to a Craigslist ad (no scam, real job..but I saw it on the company's website only after I emailed the ad (recruiter) and learned the company's name. I thought the company was posting the ad and didn't realize it was a third party (dumb, I know).

The whole call it just felt like the recruiter doesn't know the company. She said she doesn't really know the technical side of what they do (fair, but I don't know why she would say that), she pronounced the company name wrong (or, at least, not the way I would normally pronounce this word) and stumbled over the pronunciation, she name dropped her contact at the company who I quickly Googled while on the call and their LinkedIn title didn't exactly match what she said their title is. All potentially nbd, I guess, but this is my first interaction with her, so I'm feeling anxious about it. I know she's a real person because I looked her up, and I know she's legitimately a recruiter in my area, but a few minutes into the call I felt disappointed that now I couldn't just apply directly to the job.

So I brought up that concern and said I wanted to hear more about her connection to the company because I was really interested in the role and didn't want to hurt my chances by failing to apply directly. She got super offended and said, "fine, apply through me or not, it doesn't hurt me at all . . . no skin off my back . . . I have a LOT of connections and you're the one who needs a job. The company hired ME!"... I said, "I can tell I've offended you but I am just trying to protect myself after almost a year of job searching." "Yeah, you DID offend me," she said, and repeated the "doesn't hurt me" stuff and added "Not everyone's out to get you." .... Anyway, I ended up chickening out and saying "okay thanks for clarifying, sure, submit my resume please." But now I'm just like, ugh. Could work out great, could work out not-great.

Just venting and asking for commiseration and perspectives, I guess. Is it crazy to feel like I already screwed up an opportunity and I'm literally at step 0?!

tl;dr I applied to a job through a recruiter and should have just stopped our conversation and tried to apply directly - I think? sigh.
