I CANNOT stand my Finance job anymore.

I recently turned 24 and with internships included have 2.5 years of “finance experience”. My current job is with a Big 4 firm making $60k but I am not client-facing and instead do back-office internal financial analysis for senior leaders. Basically help with forecasting/budgeting for project staffing/billing.. all in excel and all extremely repetitive. It’s mind-numbing! My promotion is coming soon and I will be making ~$70k — but the role will hardly change and I am looking to get out ASAP.

As an aside the Big 4 brand name doesn’t seem to be that helpful for me in applying to new jobs since I wasn’t in consulting, advisory, audit or tax. Further I’m concerned my skill set is not transferable — I don’t mind restarting career paths with banking/asset management (not IB) or working in advisory even at the lowest level. Additionally, I would work in corporate finance within the FP&A arm — anything but this current job.

I feel like I ruined my career starting with this job and I’m so concerned on finding something better. I had a job offer for a solid firm as an advisory consultant out of college and turned it down because the hours were brutal. At this point I’ll work 60 hours per week.. I don’t care.

Lately I’ve been learning SQL and Power BI on my own to pad my resume but do not know how to find jobs aside from LinkedIn which is a black hole.
