It seems like, at least for bankers (licensed and unlicensed) the base salary in retail banking is surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly) low. The industry average seems to be anywhere from $35k to $45k a year, which may be sufficient in some areas but can really be tough in more HCOL areas. I'm sure that this has eventually motivated people that did not have crazy high sales numbers to pursue other careers with a little more cushion in the base salary department.
Has anyone here ever successfully negotiated their salary in the retail banking space? I feel like this would be a tough sell and that most people in this position would probably just job hop to another bank that would probably offer them a higher base.
