I work at a charity in Canada, and this is my first "big girl" job. I had a bad performance review, though I owned up to my faults and offered a solution for more training. My employer is refusing to provide me with additional training telling me that I "should know this" already, to "google it" or to "read the instruction manual" (referring to a complicated donor software). They also refused my suggestion to look at examples from other centres on how they are able to manage a large donor database. My employer didn't see how this would be useful, as I should be able to adapt and figure it out on my own. I explained to them that the additional training and conversing with other Centres will be beneficial as they have worked there for much longer and I can adapt their advice to our office.
My co-worker who is in another centre (city), refuses to work with me as the software functions as she was harassed by a volunteer from my city about improper data entry (I had to do it manually as no one taught me how to expertly use the software). Therefore, she no longer wants to work with me.
I also work alone and have had added responsibilities due to staff cutting from COVID. This is the last straw for me, that my co-worker that is a master at this software, and volunteers have gone to harassing me and my co-workers. I've also racism towards me (POC), extreme micromanaging, unprofessionalism from a volunteer (my employer said the "Customer is always right" as a response to this), emotional abuse, gaslighting, and workplace harassment.
After looking through my finances with my partner, we decided that it is best if I quit my job in March. I am now looking for a new job, but if I don't find one by March, I'm still going to quit as I have savings that will be able to cover me and my expenses for a while, in addition to my partner's help and generosity.
Due to COVID, the charity is under government subsidy. I was told (please correct this if this is wrong) that if they fire me they will lose their subsidy because they'll now be over the minimum (we're teetering that line) so I feel like I'm being driven to quit.
My question is: Do I tell my employer on Monday that I'm in the process of looking for a new job? How do I approach this issue? I've pre-written an email to be sent on Monday that outlines a solution to my job performance, that if my needs are not met for the betterment of the company that I will re-evaluate my employment at my job.
TL,DR; quitting my job due to a toxic work environment, and the company is setting me up to continuously fail. Do I tell my employer after a bad work performance report that I'm looking for other employment?
