I am an internal recruiter for a company in the airline/aviation industry.
Last Wednesday, I scheduled a total of 7 phone interviews in one day and only 3 answered. They didn’t even reach out to cancel or reschedule. The interviews were scheduled anywhere from 1-3 days prior via email. The candidates knew up front the pay ($15/HR) because it was posted in the job description. They were also aware of the hours and that the job is full time, because I explained this in the email. They all seemed so excited about the interview, yet 4 of them went completely cold. I kindly left voicemails expressing that things happen and they could always reschedule, but I I heard absolutely nothing from them. I’ll admit, it’s a bit frustrating and at times a complete waste of my time.
What are some of the reasons you may decide not to answer the phone for your scheduled interview?
