Starting work in the next few days setting up testing sites or something along those lines
Dress code is "t shirt, dark trousers and smart, comfortable shoes".
First two are fine, but what the heck are the shoes? This is obviously a lightish manual job and it is outdoors so it can't be indicating actual smart shoes like Oxfords right? I mean I do have them, but doing any manual work in them?
I would have assumed they were gonna specify boots or trainers but no, "smart". Now obviously I don't want to turn up in even clean understated trainers because that seems underdressed even though they specified t shirt.
Obviously it is just a temp job so it's not a huge deal it's not like they are gonna sack me for this turning up to induction in the "wrong shoes" but this could end up being a permanent job so I don't want to look like a twat lol turning up to a manual job totally overdressed but I don't even really know what the job is lol cos it is through an agency.
I'm thinking something like black fake suede style not tennis/skate shoe Sneakers or whatever, that seems to be less smart than Oxfords etc but actually something that makes sense in a t shirt and something you could work in without breaking your neck. I think boots would be preferable but I don't have them and won't be paying money for boots for a temp job lol (cheap boots blehh). Other than leather sneakers like common projects style (not paying for that again and fake leather is really crappy) I can't think of anything smarter without actually buying dress shoes or boots or whatever.
What do you think? UK BTW.
