I work for a large government consulting firm. After I achieved a higher level of security clearance, a recruiter for a smaller company reached out to me with a job offer making about 15% above my current salary ($78K vs $90K).
I’m leaning against taking the other job, partially due to a not great commute compared to my current position (yes I’m still going into the office during COVID, but only about once a week), but mostly because my current job has a pretty great tuition reimbursement program and I’m planning on using them to pay for grad school starting this fall.
That being said, what’s the best way, if there is one, to present this offer to my current supervisors to see if they’d be willing to increase my salary while also making it clear that I want to stay at the company?
