Accepting an offer for fulltime or waiting for an internship

Hi! I’m so distressed and am not sure what to do in this situation and need advice. For context, I am recently graduated from my bachelors and am taking time off before pursuing a masters/phd in the healthcare/research field.

I was recently offered a position with a reputable hospital that involves healthcare in an administrative role. This role is $24/hour ft with benefits, including a $12.5k tuition reimbursement. I was offered the position but was told that I only have 24-48 hours to respond, even though the position doesn’t begin until mid march. This career has room for growth and while this location is a 30-60 min commute, there are locations closer to home to transfer to.

However, I am waiting to hear back from a gap year fellowship that is healthcare research and involves enrolling patients in trials etc, the stuff I want to do in graduate school/research. This internship pays $20/hour and no benefits, however, if hired with this company they offer $5.5k tuition reimbursement or full tuition reimbursement at a local mid/high tier private university. This internship says that they’ll give formal offers by the end of January.

I’m not sure what to choose, because I want to go into research but the pay/benefits are better at the administrative role. Is it rude if I email the internship coordinator and ask for an update, saying i have other offers pending? Ideally, I do want to go back to school and go abroad for research, but also don’t want to burn any bridges at a reputable research hospital in my area. Thanks so much if you’ve read this thing!!
