What’s needed to break into a tech position?

Currently have a business degree but I don’t really like where I am and I’m looking into other options. I think I’d like an IT position or something similar and wondering what qualifications most employers look for. I will admit I have no background in IT and while I have a general understanding of computers and can fix some issues I’m definitely no where near an expert. I would be willing to go back to school to get another degree just not sure if it’s necessary.
