My dad is in his mid-50s, and doesn't like his job anymore...many years of overtime, didn't "move up" like he thought, new leadership, office politics. He's not ready to retire and needs to work...he gets paid well for what he does, and has never not worked a single week in 30 years without having worked overtime.
What's a job that would pay pretty well (probably like 70k I guess? That's like bare minimum), be reachable for an older, 30-year CNC machinist mildly near retirement, but which is preferably NOT a machinist job? Ideally some kind of office job would be great.
It feels like there are really no options for this. Yet, I know that lots of people do make career switches at this age even if it's harder. How? Any suggestions? Or what words can I use to search for this? We've been trying for at least a year...but there's not a lot on Indeed and whatnot. Need more specific or unique ideas.
