Remember to follow up and apply early- out of 190 LinkedIn applications I put in only 18 of them were ever viewed

This advice is fairly obvious but I think this example really demonstrates just how important it is. I was looking at my LinkedIn stats for jobs I have applied to and noticed the vast majority of my applications were never even clicked on. I am working with a career coach now and am further polishing my resume and targeting my search and when this endeavor started I thought I must really be off base with what I was putting in my resume and cover letters. Now I'm seeing that in fact, most of the time no one is even briefly glancing at what I've written in the first place. I have premium so I also know for the most part these recruiters are not even visiting my profile as I would be able to see this information.

So remember to apply early and find some way to follow up with the recruiter to ensure that they at least see your application. I'm also starting to question LinkedIn as a place to find a job, period, as I've gotten more responses from applications I've put in through pretty much all other job search engines by comparison.
