I have a few questions about my new job:
My job is a warehouse food packer, and I start tonight. I'm taking this job because my uncle works there and wants someone to talk to. The only thing is, I don't know if I want to work there. My uncle went to jail multiple times and the only places that would hire him was a burger joint or a temp agency. And he took the temp agency, which gave him this job.
I met my manager today, and he asked me what my name was. I told him my name clearly and he said "What was it, Carlos? Ah whatever, they sound the same." (by the way, my name isn' even close to Carlos). I just found that weird since I'm a Mexican-American mix and almost everyone that works there is Mexican. After that, he told me everyone that works here does not have a smile on their face and they are miserable. To me, it sounds like he is warning me that this isn't the best job to work at.
Dont get me wrong, the pay is good (about $13.50 an hour) but I'm working 6 days a week.
I start in about one and a half hours and I'm scared as frick.
My uncle says he hates it, I think the manager is telling me to turn back, and I never had a job like this.
Please, any tips, thoughts, comments or anything else would be GREATLY appreciated.
