I just want to hear from another people in this field. Why did you choose it? Do you enjoy it? What can I do to get into it. I graduated with a CJ degree in 2013. I haven't use it at all. I was a dispatcher for a few months. The department wasn't for me and I felt I wasn't being trained properly so I quit. I really want get into the field but I just feel so inexperienced. I don't know how to shake this feeling which is why I've been choosing jobs that I'm probably over qualified for and don't require a degree. I see all this police officers or other people in the field and they just seem like they have their stuff together and they are super knowledgeable. I feel like I need to be this tough person which I'm probably not. On top of that, my resume's probably terrible. I'm too ashamed to ask my sister to help me update it because she already wrote it the first time. My interview skills are definitely trash. I've been applying for state job only because I know why are only going to ask me 5 or 6 situational questions that are easy for me to answer as oppose to normal interview questions. I don't even have any professional references anymore. I recently applied for probation officer position and I'm terrified of being rejected. I've been rejected for a juvenile probation officer position 3 times now. Probably because they prefer people with experience working with kids which is understandable. I was offered a job as a correctional Officer but I turned it down for the dispatcher job. I don't know if I should apply again. I just don't think I stand a chance against other people with degree and more work experiences. Why would they choose me?
