How do I get my 401K stuff from my previous employer that hasn’t technically fired me but hasn’t responded to me since being laid off in March?

I’m in the US, Washington State, and we went into lockdown in March and I was temporarily laid off. 9 months later I have a new job and my previous employer still hasn’t responded to my initial status inquiry from April. Never received a notice of termination so I assume that when I contact them again I’ll have to technically quit. I will be contacting them asking for my 401k stuff and I’m wondering how the transition process works for this stuff. What do they legally have to give me?
