Title. I have an interview with the State of New Jersey soon. The job only requires 60 credits from an accredited school, and I have a BA. Being that I'm educationally overqualified for the job, is there a way for me to use that to negotiate a higher step within the position's pay range? It's for a department that I really want to be in and want to get a foot in the door for this particular department.
I saw some forums about there is room for negotiation for a federal job, but does anyone have insight for New Jersey? Would they be willing to negotiate the pay step?
