Do I tell my boss about my interview?

I have a 2nd round internal interview coming up for a lateral move, my boss knows I’m in the interview process. My question is I have a 1.5 hour interview coming up soon during the work day, do I say I have an appointment or that I have an interview? Do I have to ask to use my personal time for this?

I’m a little worried that they’re trying to prevent me from moving on (lots of work right now, understaffed). I don’t have concrete evidence but I’ve been asking for this transfer for over 1 year and they have been dragging their feet about it.

I don’t know, probably over thinking it. My boss is a nice person in general.
