Can you be fired for telling your boss you'll be put of the city for a week 2 months in advance? (Canada)

Sorry if this is the right place to post this or not but i don't know where to ask.

Two months ago i told my boss i would be absent in the last week before christmas because i'll be out of town, he didn't say much.

But not long ago it has been announced that we're heading into a two weeks lockdown on christmas, my job will be closed for those two weeks.

But i heard that apparently the district manager is asking my boss to fire me. Is that legal?Just last month by coworker took three weeks off for his school and no one said anything.

I have been there for two years and even stayed a few days longer before leaving so i wouldn't be leaving anyone in too much trouble.
