Animal caretaker, conservation work

Hi.

I am student currently working towards finish a BCs degree majoring in Zoology. I've been applying for multiple jobs/volunteer oportunities locally. After trying for months, I've finally heard back from a local pet store (spot just opened up) and they called me in an interview. The interview was originally scheduled to last 20 to 30 minutes, but I was kept in the office talking to the manager for an hour and longer. The interviewer was very kind and she seemed really keen on knowing my background and hobbies... She told me I left her with a very good impression and that I will be hearing back by the end of this week if I got the job. Now, this was my first job interview so I'm a bit nervous. Is this a good sign?

My duties for the position at pet shop would be; come in morning shifts to change water bowls, clean the cages, refill food, play with the animals and really just dedicate a lot of time interacting with the birds they have. I wouldn't have anything to do at the cashier's area. My other question is, would this fit an animal caretaker job description? Will this look good on my resume if I want to pursue conservation work in the future?

I will also be volunteering on a project (once or twice a week or free days) with the team that is dedicated to saving and increasing the population of wild canids in our country. It is a mix of tracking the canids (paw prints, taking pee and hair samples for lab work), going through camera trap footage. Does this increase my chances of landing a job in wildlife conservation when I have a degree?

Thank you in advance to everyone who will answer!
